I absolutely love Paris. Of all the big cities I’ve visited in the world, Paris is definitely my favorite. Everything is just so pretty and romantic. I think I could go there 20 times and still have new places to explore. But let’s say you’re in Paris for a few days only, and for the first time – what should you do? I’ve put together a list of 20 things I loved doing while we were there.
20 things to do in Paris
The Louvre – if you’re interested in art – and especially in the Mona Lisa – this is the place. And if you’re not interested in art, go here anyway – it’s so beautiful around here and you have to see the famous glass pyramid outside. You don’t need to enter the museum if you don’t want to.
Arc de Triomphe – it’s a beautiful monument and you have the prettiest of views from the top.
The Eiffel Tower – do I really need to explain why? And yes, you have to go to the top to enjoy the view.
Sacré-Ceur – the prettiest place I’ve ever seen. So many cute houses, the best gelato ever, cute restaurants and the best of views.
Les Invalides – this place is just so beautiful and the Dôme des Invalides holds the tombs of several French war heroes, like Napoleon.
Jardin du Luxembourg – a lovely park which is perfect for picnics or just a stroll.
Montmartre – probably one of the prettiest areas in Paris. Take stroll and enjoy all the artistic streets in this neighborhood of Paris. Steep and cobbled streets and beautiful houses everywhere.
Notre Dame – this beautiful cathedral is a must. So, so pretty!
Palace of Versailles – why not enjoy a day trip to this palace and improve your history skills?
Champs-Élysées – this avenue is probably one of the most famous ones in the entire world. Here you’ll find many flagship stores including Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
Ladurée – need I say more? If you don’t eat macarons here you haven’t been to Paris. Not for real.
Rodin Museum’s sculpture garden – see ”The Thinker” and other beautiful sculptures by Auguste Rodin.
Buy fresh baguettes – because this is what you do in Paris.
Have a street crèpe – they are delicious and so typical for Paris.
Moulin Rouge – this super famous cabaret is located near Montmartre and really, does it get more retro than this?
Disneyland – if you have kids (or just want to be a kid for a day) you should go on a day trip to Disneyland in the outskirts of Paris.
Eat Croissants – just do it. They taste completely different and are just so much better than at home.
Picnic in a park – we did this everyday. Just buy some great wine, some fresh bread, grapes and some cheese and explore one of the many parks. When you’ve walked around for a while, find a sweet spot and enjoy your picnic.
Buy fresh flowers – the Parisian streets are filled with cute flower shops and I highly recommend that you buy some. Or at least smell them.
Walk on the bridges and stroll the streets – we put a love-lock on one of the bridges when we were there (and ofc threw the key in the river) but nowadays you can’t do that anymore since all the locks are removed. You can still enjoy the beautiful bridges though. Also, take the time to stroll the beautiful streets of Paris and enjoy the lovely buildings.
