All of a sudden, the winter came back to Stockholm and all I feel like doing is to cuddle up inside with a book and a cup of hot chocolate. It’s not terribly cold according to the termometer, but the wind is so cold and biting I can feel it in my bones. The only thing that seems to be working in this weather is to fill up with warm drinks from within. Coffee and tea is great, but my absolute favorite thing to drink is hot chocolate. I used to think that hot chocolate was nothing but a sweet drink with a little taste of chocolate. As I’ve grown older I have changed my mind about this and I believe it has something to do with a changed recipe.
Nowadays I don’t like my hot chocolate too sweet, instead I want a rich chocolate-y taste, which is why I’ve added some real chocolate to the recipe. The key to success is to add just a pinch of sea salt – it helps making the chocolate drink to something extraordinary.
3 dl plantmilk (oat/almond/soy)
2 dl water
2 tbsp coconut sugar
2 tbsp organic and raw cacao
40 g dark chocolate, in pieces
pinch of sea salt
Add the ingredients to a small pot.
Bring to boil whilst stiring. Add the dark chocolate and let it melt.
Finally add the sea salt and serve the chocolate in two cups.
Top with whipped coconut cream, vegan icecream or anything else that you like. Enjoy!
