Baking Saffron Buns

lussekatt

Saffron buns. The older I get, the more I love these S-shaped buns. I used to think that they were dry, boring and just not that tasty. Over the years, this has changed and now I love them. I like that they are not overly sweet, as many other Christmas treats are.

I also enjoy the process of baking them. I always find baking very calming and almost meditative, and with these buns this is extra true. Shaping the dough into S-shaped buns, placing a raisin in each end and watch them turn golden in the oven. It always makes me get into the right Christmas mood.

The recipe is from my book, The Nordic Baker. If you make them, please share the result with me. I’d love to see!

Lots of love,
Sofia
